Explore Manitoulin Island
Manitoulin Island is the world’s largest fresh water island and features more than a hundred small inland lakes. The region is home to 24 first nations settlements and is known for its peaceful and spiritual appeal. The community is built upon an appreciation for the land and many residents practice organic farming, hunting, trapping, and aquaculture activities.
Those who inhabit the island or vacation in the area are active outdoors all year round and participate in many cultural events, sporting and recreational activities, and festivals. For many visitors, Manitoulin Island has a calming small-town feel. Because they are able to appreciate nature, escape from the stresses of the city, and immerse themselves in the rich cultural environment of the island, many families become regular visitors.
